All about Yanko Tea™: health benefits, origin, and taste


Yanko Tea™ is an herbal tea made from the leaves of chamaenerion, which is common in the coniferous forests of the Ukrainian Carpathians at altitudes above 1,000 m. It does not contain caffeine, calms the nervous system, and strengthens the immune system. It is a local analogue of black and green tea, which can be drunk in the afternoon without affecting sleep quality.

What are the health benefits of Yanko Tea™?


Relaxes, relieves anxiety, and normalizes sleep. Helps alleviate PTSD symptoms.
The phenolic compounds in chamaenerion interact with neurotransmitter receptors, helping to reduce stress. Magnesium and B vitamins regulate the synthesis of serotonin and dopamine, which improves emotional well-being and sleep quality. Tannins and mucilaginous substances reduce nervous system excitation, helping with anxiety disorders.

Restores strength and supports the immune system.

Are there any restrictions on the use of Yanko Tea™?


The daily intake of Yanko Tea™, like any herbal tea, is up to 5 servings per day. Due to its high content of polyphenolic compounds, Yanko Tea™ strengthens blood vessels and stimulates the digestive system, but excessive consumption may lead to increased blood pressure, increased blood clotting, and irritation of the gastrointestinal tract mucosa.

How is caffeine harmful?


Unlike the coffee, black tea, and green tea we are accustomed to, Yanko Tea™ is naturally caffeine-free.

Some tropical and subtropical plants secrete caffeine as a toxic substance to protect themselves from insect pests. In these climatic zones, where insects pose a greater threat to plants than on the European continent, plants have adapted to defend themselves by secreting caffeine with its characteristic bitter taste. It causes loss of coordination and even paralysis in insects.

Caffeine acts as a stimulant on humans, or more precisely, as a psychoactive substance. The surge of energy it provides is deceptive for the body. The feeling of fatigue is temporarily blocked, but it does not disappear and accumulates. Caffeine is addictive, and its abuse leads to sleep disturbances, anxiety and nervousness, heart problems, high blood pressure, heartburn, and diarrhea.

FFFAN (Freezing For Flavor And Nutrition) technology


To turn a leaf into drink, it undergoes a complex 3-day production cycle.

Its key stages are:

1. Harvesting fresh chamaenerion leaves.

2. Freezing and defrosting.

3. Rolling.

4. Fermentation.

5. Drying (dehydration).

The central stage of the cycle is fermentation, during which all the “magic” happens: the formation of the characteristic taste and aroma of the leaves.

The leaves must be prepared before fermentation. Others do this by withering them in baskets or bags, which is a budget-friendly method, but it has significant drawbacks. During withering, in case of excessive humidity and insufficient ventilation, the leaves can spoil due to the development of bacteria. This is accompanied by the destruction of enzymes, the loss of essential oils and, accordingly, aroma and beneficial properties. As a result, the finished drink has a rotten or hay-like taste.

Fortunately, we have managed to avoid this by using a different approach - our own FFFAN (Freezing For Flavor And Nutrition) technology. The leaves are transported from the harvesting sites to the production facility in refrigerated trucks, which keeps them cool and fresh. The cooled leaves delivered to the workshop are not wilted, but frozen. Thanks to the “thermal shock” effect, plant cells release enzymes (a resource for fermentation) more intensively, so the finished product has a more intense aroma and a brighter color of the infusion. When frozen, the fibers (cellulose) and chemical compounds in the leaves—vitamins, antioxidants, micro- and macroelements—remain stable, whereas when dried, they break down due to their thermolability (sensitivity to heat).

Therefore, thanks to freezing, Yanko Tea™ has a wide range of health benefits and a distinct honey aroma. This method is more expensive due to higher equipment and energy costs, but it ensures a significantly higher quality of the final product.

How is Yanko Tea™ beneficial for the environment?


Unlike South American coffee, Asian black and green tea, and African cocoa, chamaenerion is grown, harvested, and processed in Europe. Thanks to short logistics chains and the absence of intercontinental transport, we reduce CO₂ emissions into the environment. Also, unlike goods that require long-distance transport, local products use less packaging materials.

Chamaenerion is a wild flowering plant that is the first to come to the aid of nature in its recovery after various natural disasters. It quickly covers burnt areas and deforested areas. Appearing on land devastated by fire, it allows the soil to restore its fertile layer and prepares conditions for other plants to colonize it. At the same time, Asian black and green tea are grown on cultivated plantations, which can harm the environment due to the deforestation required for their creation, destroying the habitats of many animal species. Plantations require large amounts of water, thereby worsening the water balance. Pesticides used on plantations to increase yields poison the soil and water due to their accumulation.
